Hiring a doormat doesn’t come without pitfalls
Hiring a doormat doesn’t come without pitfalls I debated on writing this one. It gets a little rough in places, and I really don’t like rough opinions. But after talking with an old friend the other day, he convinced me to do it – for him. It is always hard to watch others suffer un-needlessly. To my friend who is feeling the burn, this one is for you. Employees are becoming more concerned about being victimized for being themselves, not just for the way they are doing their jobs. It’s a two headed dragon! I wonder if doormats are a new phenomenon created by our business culture, or if they…

On the ledge
On the ledge – Overcoming fears Trait theory is focused on recognizing and assessing individual personality characteristics. Fear is a Trait In talking with a young college student just recently, I learned that she is preparing to present to a group of kids who are incarcerated in a regional detention center in our area. She was trying to determine which methods to use to teach these students about learning, and now asking “questions” is specific to all things in life. At first she was going to use the analogy of a McDonalds Big Mac with Coke and Fries, versus a kid’s burger with no condiments on it, as a representation…

Endorsements or Smoke and Mirrors
Endorsements or Smoke and Mirrors? In the real world I’m not sure LinkedIn skills and endorsements really matter unless you have the actual degree and/or years of experience behind you. Just copying some cool and trendy vocabulary that you think “might” match your talents, can be costly to you in the end. Really think about those skills – could you get a job in the field that you are listing? Or is what you have listed all smoke and mirrors? Is what you have listed all smoke and mirrors? Like everyone else I have learned that friends are great about endorsing you for things like Microsoft Excel and Customer Service.…

Giants and Monsters Everywhere – On My!
Keeping with an October theme for Halloween, I thought I would address the Giants and Monsters in our lives. Be that our personal lives, our working environments, or where ever your giant monsters live. Giants and Monsters Everywhere - On My!It's not hard to image a time when you are sitting at your desk and the world is wonderful. You are on top of your game, coworkers respect you, your clients rely on you, and you get satisfaction from mostly everything you do. Life is good. The next day your world is shattered and left in ruin. Shaking your head you can’t believe what is happening around you, why it…

Random Acts of Kindness
Random Acts of Kindness by: JB Radcliff The simple things in life matter the most. Providing clean water, food, and aid, to those in need, to name a view. Collaborating with like-minded businesses, individuals, churches, and organizations, one person at a time to make a difference – has a rippling effect. How we pass along those attributes of giving to the next generation, is a secondary gift. Ask yourself: Have you been kind today? Make kindness your modus operandi & change your world. ~Annie Lennon Random acts of kindness help to “feed your soul”. It is in the doing of kindness that you find contentment in your own soul. Who doesn’t want to…
